Chen Shifa, a member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President of the university, embarked on a research tour to the School of Law, School of Humanities, and School of Tourism

On the afternoon of December 15th, 2023, the Party Committee Theoretical Study Centre of the School of Law, School of Humanities, and School of Tourism held a joint learning conference, where Chen Shifa, the Deputy President and Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee, made a guidance inspection. The conference centered around the theme of "Learning General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Discourse on the Construction of World-Class Universities with Chinese Characteristics," and combined it with a large-scale discussion of the mission vision of "New Journey, Re-Launch" and the innovation and breakthrough in the construction of South China University's new liberal arts programs under the background of the "Double-First Class" construction. Hu Hua'ai, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law, presided over the conference, in which the members of the Party and Government leadership of each school, heads of departments, Party branch secretaries, and teacher representatives attended.

During the meeting, Hu Huaai, secretary of the Law School's Party committee, guided participants to deeply study Xi Jinping's important speech in China People's University, focusing on rooting in the Chinese land and constructing a world-class university. Wang Shujun, secretary of the Party committee of the School of Humanities, guided participants to study Xi Jinping's important speech during the fifth collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, emphasizing the need to accelerate the construction of an education power to provide strong support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Liu Yaofei, secretary of the Party committee of the School of Tourism, guided participants to study the relevant spirit of the establishment ceremony and the first plenary session of the Strategic Consultation Committee for the Construction of an Education Power held by the Ministry of Education. Representatives from the Law School, School of Humanities, and School of Tourism respectively reported and discussed the current situation and planning of their discipline construction and professional development.

Vice President Chen Shifa listened carefully to the learning and discussion of the theoretical study center groups from the three schools, fully affirming the effectiveness of their joint learning. He pointed out that each school should base its activities on the vision of "New Journey, New Departure" for the university, vigorously promote the spirit of educators, enhance the leadership role of new liberal arts disciplines, and support the university's high-quality advancement in the construction of "Double First Class." At the same time, Vice President Chen Shifa offered three suggestions for the theoretical study center group of each school: first, to standardize and normalize the learning process, including planning before learning, conducting research during learning, and harvesting after learning; second, to align with the direction and progress of the university and schools, integrating with various work to promote the development to new heights; third, to closely integrate the learning outcomes with the practical work of the university and schools, guiding practice, pushing forward progress, and further ensuring the effectiveness of the center group's learning outcomes in practical applications.
